I my self have been watching how successive governments are bilking farmers and rural poor for the benefit of the urban elite class and industrial lobby. While these urban people can sell either their produce, be it services like IT, accounting or tangible finished products like textiles at international prices, why can’t poor rural farmer do the same? Why no voice is raised against the Govt. banning of agricultural exports? Why no voice is raised against Govt. manipulation of agricultural prices? Why banning of agricultural commodities trading? Price raise of agricultural product may not affect the rural poor since their wages increase accordingly. I have been seeing this practically. In my village in India, since the paddy prices went up from 500Rs to Rs1000, accordingly the wages went up from Rs.70 to 150 in last 2 years. I have so many things to write about how the Indian government is cheating poor rural folks. But I will write up my thought later. I am very happy to see there are some voices raised against this blatant injustice. The best way to change this is by creating awareness among farmers and rural laborers about these discriminatory government policies that are severely curtailing their lively hood and standards of living. He is the problem, so how can he solve it? He himself, Chidambaram, even BJP is one and all. None of these politicians have their roots in rural India and none of them care about rural economy.
